How to Draw Anime Bodies

Back to Drawing Main.

Bodies are another tough part in the creation of Animes. Usually because of the proportion. That's why I have a handy little chart. Notice that the figure is seven heads tall. Notice also that the anime figure is a lot skinnier than the normal human figure. Pinch in the waist, and thin the arms. And no the figure is not nude, it's wearing skin-tight clothes.

Here are some body examples. Trace if needed. Tracing helps you figure out how to draw certain things.

Start out with stick figures and cylinders, then flesh the cylinders out. Keep the body very skinny.

Here is some more detailed step by step stuff.

This is the stick figure of the drawing. Draw these light and fast.
Mess up, draw messy, do whatever you like. These will be erased anyway.
Stick figures are drawn to give your character their pose. Bend
lines in the direction you want them. You can do stick figures
anyway you want.
Now you flesh out the body. Outline the stick figure.
Add all the minor details such as the ones pointed out with the
arrows. Keep the figure nice and skinny and don't worry if it doesn't
look very good. After the head is drawn it'll look great.
On the right is what your finished flesh figure may look like when it's done.
Remember to keep it skinny, for girls don't look hot when they're
fat. Also remember that the breasts should not pop out like watermelons.
After the flesh figure draw the face and clothes. You can
make the clothes as you like. The clothes I have are showing belly so
pay some attention to that area. The pic gives her abs.
Finish the eyes and ink the lines you want to keep. I prefer
using a black ultra-fine for sharp lines, and a fine for thicker ones.
Other good pens include Pilots, and Uniball, but these aren't permanent
and take a good amt. of time before it dries. Then run your eraser over
it. I prefer the "Ghostly White" type of eraser because they erase better
than the regular pink erasers. Now, color the figure, I use Rose Art
because they sharpen better than the Crayola kind, but use what fits you best.
Rose Art's colors however are not as bright. Voila... you have a female body.
